That sad thing about Strange Days is that it's not a bad sci-fi movie at all, and has a lot of interesting ideas. The only real mistake it made was to locate the story in 1999, which was just ridiculous, considering it was made in 1994 and the technology it envisioned was nowhere on nor near the horizon.My tip if you want to write sci-fi: Don't use the current method for stating dates. Star Trek had the right idea with "Star Dates." If you say that something happened in Z24B9, and don't tell anyone how origin date was calculated, then nobody can know how to convert that to the Gregorian Calendar, and you will fool people into believing you are not an idiot.
