Washington says Rangers are better off with Ponson gone

I linked to this because it is a baseball oddity. The Texas Rangers have the worst pitching staff in baseball. In fact, they may have one of the worst pitching staffs in baseball history. They have given up 377 runs, and the next worst team in the AL has given up only 315! So what did they do to address the situation? They cut a guy who is 4-1 with a 3.88 ERA. I know he is supposed to be an obnoxious fellow, but I reckon I'd put up with some crap to avoid giving more starts to Jennings or Mathis or Mendoza. In 12 starts, those three guys are 1-8 with an ERA right around 9!
