'Empire Strikes Back' director Kershner dies in LA

R.I.P.: Irvin Kershner, director of The Empire Strikes Back, age 87
Quick, name Irvin Kershner's second-best movie. The correct answer: none of the above. I guess The Flim-Flam Man (done before Empire) would be an OK choice. Irvin never did get a chance to cash in on his mega-hit. After Empire, he only directed two more theatrical films: Never Say Never Again, the mediocre James Bond film in which Connery made a one-time return to his tuxedo after a 12-year absence; and RoboCop 2, an uninspired sequel.
