NCAA College Football BCS Standings, Week 9

NCAA College Football BCS Standings, Week 9
I was right about Oregon climbing back up to #7 (Jeff Sagarin's computer predictor actually ranks them #3!), but I was incorrect in hypothesizing that Clemson would pass Boise State into the top four. Clemson did move into fourth on the computer portion of the rankings, but didn't get enough love from the humans. As a result Boise State is now number four. They have a decent chance at the national title game this year, because:

1. Based on their schedule, they would actually have to try to lose in order to avoid an undefeated season.

2. LSU and Alabama play each other. One of them has to lose, which will probably drop them below the undefeated teams.

3. Oklahoma, Oklahoma State and Kansas State all play games against one another. It is very possible that none of them will emerge undefeated. (If one of them does run the table, they will definitely deserve to be in the national title game!)

Assuming that Boise will stay ahead of Stanford and Clemson, they could easily end up playing the winner of the LSU/Alabama game for the national title. It would be interesting to see the line on such a match-up!

Interesting tidbits

* The computer portion of the system now ranks Wisconsin #24! (The human polls rank them #11 and #12.)

* The computer boys rank Oklahoma State #1, Kansas State #5, Oklahoma #7, and Texas A&M #11, with Texas Tech and Texas A&M also in the top 25. And one of the six computer gurus ranks Texas A&M as high as #7. Those geek boys sure do love the Big 12. (And they don't like the Big 10 and the Pac-12. Sagarin's system has Stanford rated #21 (!), Nebraska #23, Michigan #24, Wisconsin #25.)
