Chris Davis of the Orioles set a franchise record for home runs in a season and became the third player in history to hit 50 homers and 40 doubles, joining Babe Ruth (1921) and Albert Belle (1995).
Cabrera became the first right-handed hitter to win three consecutive batting titles since Rogers Hornsby.
Clayton Kershaw of the Dodgers joined Lefty Grove (1929-31) and Greg Maddux (1993-95) as the only pitchers since 1901 to lead the majors in E.R.A. for three consecutive seasons.
Craig Kimbrel of the Braves, with 50 saves, continued his dominance as a closer. In 67 innings he allowed 39 hits and struck out 98 with a 1.21 E.R.A. He led the N.L. in saves for the third straight season, and in the past two seasons, he has blown just seven of his 99 save opportunities. Last season Kimbrel finished with 42 saves and a 1.01 E.R.A. No other pitcher has had multiple seasons with at least 40 saves and an E.R.A. below 1.50.
Greg Holland of the Royals saved 47 games in 50 chances and fanned 103 of the 255 batters he faced in 67 innings. He finished with a 1.21 E.R.A. and averaged 13.84 strikeouts per nine innings.
Jose Fernandez , the Marlins’ hard-throwing right-hander, completed his rookie season with a 12-6 record, a 2.19 E.R.A. and 187 strikeouts in 172 2/3 innings. Opponents batted .182 against Fernandez, which tied Hideo Nomo (1995 Dodgers) for the best mark by a rookie pitcher since 1900.
Raul Ibanez 41, tied Ted Williams for the most dingers hit by a player 41 or older (29).
