The left side of the bracket includes no surprises: in the South, #1 Kansas will face #2 Villanova; in the West, #1 Oregon will face #2 Oklahoma. Possible sleeper: Villanova has just steamrolled over everyone so far with an average victory margin of 24. They better be at their best, however, because Kansas is the nation's #1 team.
In the category of "did you remember" - do you know that mighty Kansas struggled to beat Harvard? It was 56-56 late in the game. Those Harvard guys will probably be talking about that game at their 50th reunion. Their team had a losing record, both for the whole season and in Ivy League competition, and they suffered double-digit losses to Cornell and Dartmouth, two teams that posed identical 10-18 records. But they almost beat Kansas, dammit!
There will have to be two Cinderella winners in tomorrow's games, because Notre Dame will face Wisconsin in a 6-7 match-up, while Gonzaga will face Syracuse in a 10-11 battle. Notre Dame has not really been tested. They beat an #11 and a #14 to get here. They may get past Wisconsin, but I don't think they'll go any farther, because they will most likely run right back into their nemesis, UNC, the team that slaughtered them 78-47 in the ACC tourney. Possible sleeper: Gonzaga has looked very strong for an #11 seed. They are probably the most likely underdog to make the Final Four.
