SNL indefinitely suspended a writer who made a joke about Donald Trump's son Barron.
"Isn't the point of comedy, particularly supposedly cutting edgy comedy, to push the limits? It may be a troubling sign when a show renowned for sticking it to the man starts canning writers over Twitter backlash."
THere's a difference between sticking it to the man and taking pot shots at a ten year old kid just because his dad is (insert name calling here). For the party that promotes safe spaces and inclusiveness, this seems a lot like bullying.
ReplyDeleteI didn't see anybody from a "party" bullying anyone. SNL suspended the writer for making the Tweet, so you can't blame them, and the guy who writes WWTDD is pretty far right of center, so you CAN blame him, but he's probably a Libertarian Republican. In truth, you can't really blame anyone but the writer, who wrote a funny line, as comedy writers are supposed to do. (And it's not really specifically about the kid. The joke was that he'll become the first home school shooter, which is really a generic line that's about his parents and has almost nothing to do with his individual personality.)
