Turns out Donald Trump IS a Batman villain, but not The Joker.

Turns out President Trump IS a Batman villain, but not The Joker.

He's Bane!

The article says he "plagiarized" Bane, which is not true. He just expressed similar ideas.

  1. I don't think so. There was also a line that was virtually directly lifted from the movie Avatar, so the idea that Trump just came up with a similar (and not very complicated) idea here, actually doesn't seem all that likely.

Also, from an academic perspective, 'plagiarism' is the theft of ideas and not of sentences. Of course, since this is a fairly simplistic (and simple minded) idea, plagiarizing the idea from the character Bane isn't possible.

    1. Correct. You can't "plagiarize" a commonplace or obvious idea. (Although plagiarism is also the theft of sentences and fragments, especially in literary fiction, where the originality of the eloquence is about equally as important as the ideas.)

    2. Yes, my bad, I meant to write 'and not just of sentences."

I hope that mistake on my part was realized.
