All these projects and we still can't close the Darién Gap. We once worked on a proposal for a raised highway there made of modular trapezoidal components. Raised to reduce environmental damage, trapezoidal so a single component design can be used for straight or curved sections, and modular to reduce costs and environmental damage. Predicted revenues from tolls and increased tourism would offset the costs well within the expected lifespan of the structure. Not one hint of interest from concerned parties.
