Baseball Hall of Fame 2018: Voting results and new members of Cooperstown

Chipper Jones, Jim Thome, Trevor Hoffman, and Vladimir Guerrero are in this year’s Hall of Fame class. "Jones got in with a whopping final vote percentage of 97.2 percent, while Thome received 89.8 percent of the vote, and Guerrero received 92.9 percent. Hoffman made it with 79.9 percent of the vote. With only one year of eligibility remaining, Edgar Martinez failed to make the cut, collecting 70.4 percent of the votes."

Chipper and Thome got in on their first ballot.

  1. Please put Edgar in next year. It's a crime how underrated he is as a hitter. And if you support the position of DH (as I do), then don't use it as a reason to deny someone into the HOF.

  2. Having covered Thome before, he is every bit the great guy people say he is. He's the most normal, unaffected regular dude out there (Except he's a Hall of Famer and could double as Paul Bunyon)

  3. I met Thome in 1994 at Winter Haven, FL spring training. He was completely unknown then. He happily stood and talked with me for nearly 10 minutes before the game. He proceeded to hit 3 HR's that game, and I was like "yep, that's my buddy".
