Updated: “A New Yorker article … not a conservative publication, they describe how these kids, these kids are being coached. They’re given scripts to read by liberals, according to the New Yorker. Don’t fall for the actor children.”
That's a quote from Anne Coulter, as propagated on Twitter by Breitbart and "liked" by Donald Trump Jr.
I probably shouldn't have to mention this because it seems obvious, but there is no such New Yorker article. Coulter's claim is a complete fabrication.
The right-wing counter to this (even expressed by one of my commenters) is that she meant to say NY Times.
Once again I probably shouldn't have to mention this because it seems obvious, but there is no such New York Times article either.
The NY Times article she supposedly cited (subscription required to view this page) simply says, "officials said" that. In other words, it does not say that the kids are being coached. It says that the government CLAIMS that, and the rest of the article points out that the government's claims and justifications of this policy are false!
She mis-spoke. It was the NY Times.
ReplyDeleteThere is no such NY Times article as well.

Yep. She quoted a portion of one sentence in a lengthy NY Times article. Not to mention that statement in the article is attributed to “administration officials” who are the same people responsible for this terrible policy. Meanwhile the other 99.9% of the article describes how this administration is lying about the law and who is to blame for it. So coulter trying to use this as support is asinine.
ReplyDeleteAnn Coulter being asinine. What a surprise! ;-)
ReplyDeleteSo Coulter’s source is the Administration...known for their notorious lies. Brilliant.
ReplyDeleteI love the "at the border" stuff. Like they show up at a designated border crossing and get their kids stolen, not crossing illegally with no proof of who they are.
ReplyDeleteAnd the decision to actually enforce the law is a "Policy Change".
ReplyDeleteActually there is a New Yorker article.
