Donald J. Trump on Twitter: "I have the absolute right to PARDON myself."

Donald J. Trump on Twitter: "I have the absolute right to PARDON myself."

His own DOJ states the exact opposite on their official website.

HOWEVER, please note that there is a sleazy but legal work-around. The President can declare himself temporarily unable to perform his duties as per the 25th Amendment. The Vice-President, as acting President, could then pardon the President. The President could then resume his duties.

  1. Trump does not understand any of these. He just thinks the presidential pardon is the get-out-of-jail card in Monopoly.

  2. If you all had read the article instead of CNN's headline, you would know that the line about the 'absolute right' was followed by, "but I will not because I have done nothing wrong."

Amazing how reading ALL of the facts can make such a difference.

    1. Makes absolutely makes absolutely no difference.

    2. Only a complete narcissistic megalomaniac shitbag would have said the first part.

    3. We all read it. That makes no difference at all. In fact, that makes it worse. If he would never do it, why bring it up in the first place?

    4. Yeah... sorry, Gent. That’s not the point. Change the statement and see if your argument still works. Imagine if Trump said, “I have the absolute right to rape nuns. I would never do it though because I’m not attracted to them.”

Does that then excuse the first part of his statement?

  3. You can be pardoned without ever being charged, let alone indicted, Gerald Ford pardoned Nixon the day after he took office, Nixon was never charged with a crime.

    1. So he, as President, would pardon himself from indictments he might receive in the future, when he will be a private citizen? Is that only for charges filed against him for actions taken when he was President, or can he also pardon himself for all pre-Ppresidential crimes, and all future crimes he might commit? Ford only pardoned Tricky Dick for crimes committed in a very specific time frame (while he was President). But the Constitution places no limits on Presidential power, so maybe he can even pardon himself for crimes he plans to commit in the future. Sweet scam!

    2. That could be the plot of the sequel to Minority Report.
