Internet rumor leads to confusion of Tom Cruise reality and satire. Yeah, like there's a difference.
  • Step 1: Back on July 3, an internet satire site (linked above) printed this faux interview with Tom Cruise "'I only took my present form because Bingodulla, whom all Scientologists worship as the Supreme Thetan, selected me to spread the gospel of Scientology to the glib, uninformed masses."
  • Step 2: I'm not sure why, but somehow a UK tabloid named The Daily Record printed it this week as if it were real.
  • The article had obviously been written with tongue deep in cheek, with Tom claiming at one point that Brooke Shields was Freud's lover in a previous life, but he's said a lot of strange things lately, and the teachings of Scientology always seem bizarre to outsiders anyway, so the mock interview blurred reality just enough to fool people.
