I like to read the work of independent thinkers, and Chris Garcia has his own take on film. He stirred up some flames a few years back when he gave Saving Private Ryan two stars out of five. Although I thought the score was too low compared to other films he awarded the same score to, I thought his critique was spot-on. He took some stubborn and offbeat stances this year as well. His list includes Miami Vice and The Science of Sleep, two films which are not showing up on many of the annual best-of summaries.
