Linky and Dinky's famous chart may be the most successful internet hoax in history. It was reprinted as factual by legitimate print sources (notably The Guardian), and even generated a brief thread in Doonesbury, whose creator apparently assumed it to be accurate. For the record, very few Presidential IQs are known for a fact.Richard Nixon was part of the Terman Longtitudinal Study of gifted children in California, so his IQ was definitely high, but no precise measurement has been made public.
JFK's is known. He was tested when he applied for Choate and he scored 119.
President Bush scored 1206 on his SAT exams pre-1974, when the test correlated very closely to IQ and was even admissible for MENSA admission. His score translates to an IQ of approximately 129. Of course, most people would not assume President Bush to be as smart as or smarter than the ever witty and verbally facile JFK, and the Linky-Dinky hoax was successful because it was based on those assumptions.
