The Game Plan is The Rock's family-friendly football comedy. 2800 theaters, 33% positive reviews. The Kingdom is the thriller about a criminal investigation in Saudi Arabia featuring a teaming of Saudi cops and FBI agents. 2700 screens. 44% positive reviews.
Feast of Love is a film targeted at those who love their Cameron Crowe and/or Richard Curtis movies to come straight from the heart. It was directed by an old Hollywood veteran Robert Benton (Kramer vs Kramer), and will be on 1200 screens. 49% positive reviews.
In the Valley of Elah is "an engrossing murder mystery and profound antiwar statement." 700 screens, 69% positive reviews. WARNING: Well-intentioned and sincere sermon movies almost never go below 40%, no matter how bad they are, so a 69 here should be viewed cautiously, more like a 50.
Trade is a heavy-handed drama about international kidnapping and sex trafficking. I mentioned above that sermonettes rarely go below 40. This may be the exception. It is currently rated 20%, but based on only 10 reviews. It will be in arthouse distribution. I'm not sure how they roped the talented and sympathetic Kevin Kline into this, but it doesn't seem to have been one of his better career moves, given that it will appear in only 70 theaters in the entire USA, then disappear without a trace.
