Iron Man not only held on to the lead against all newcomers, but grossed more than all the new releases added together! The Steel Soldier pulled in $15 million on Friday, compared to seven million for the Kutcher/Diaz comedy, six for Speed Racer and none for Redbelt.Speed Racer is headed for financial disaster in light of a reported hundred million dollar budget and the studio's hope for a weekend in the $35m-$45m range. (KJ predicted $22m, Warrior $34m.)
The doomed Redbelt proved to have no audience, as expected, and will have to struggle to make even a single million for the entire weekend.
