The Hulk performed at expectation levels, and The Happening performed better than expected. Given those facts and the excellent slate of holdovers, the weekend extended to three the streak of 20+% increases over last year.This weekend also marked the fourth consecutive period in which the top twelve films have grossed more than $160 million. Such a string has never happened before in history.
The Hulk's weekend was the 7th-best June opening in history. The previous Hulk film had the second-best opening, but then fell dramatically. It still holds the record for the largest second-week percentage decline of any film which grossed $25 million or more in the first week ... 69.7%
