It turns out that the much-dreaded Avatar is actually damned good. 81% positive reviews, with plenty of "shock and awe" factor. The other major film is the one with Sarah Jessica Parker and Hugh Grant as a couple of urbanites with a dissipating marriage who are relocated to a small town in Wyoming, where they get to wear shitkicker boots and cowboy hats and mingle with the regular folk. Presumably this will save their marriage and teach them to be better people, unless the film dares to stray from formula, which seems unlikely, given that the Washington Post called it, "An exercise in foregone conclusions so dreary as to hardly qualify as comedy." Among the top critics, it was one thumb up, 15 down. That's kinda surprising. What was wrong with that one guy?
