Matt Holliday Stats, News, Photos - St. Louis Cardinals - ESPN

A note on Matt Holliday

People seem to think he is in some kind of slump this year. He is hitting .291 with an .817 OBP. He's on pace for 17 homers in 674 plate appearances. In reality, that is PERFECTLY consistent with his lifetime performance, assuming you exclude the effect of playing in Coors. His lifetime batting average on the road is .286, with an .810 OBP and 19 homers per 674 plate appearances.

Of course, he's still a good hitter. He's just not as good as you think he is, because his lifetime average at Coors is .356 with 36 homers per 674 plate appearances.

  2. As a long time Cards fan, this was all discussed and accepted. As a mid-season rental last year he excelled and looked like the perfect complement to Pujols but.... the most vexing stat is that he's about .190 with runners in scoring position.
