Daily Box Office for Friday, April 29, 2011

Fast Five sped far ahead of the pack. The film set the all-time record for the highest-grossing April day, $33 million, breaking the $30m record formerly held by its sister film, Fast and Furious. Clash of the Titans is in third place on that list with $26m. No other film has ever reached as much as $20m on an April day!

In contrast to Fast Five's gross of some $33 million, all of the other films added together grossed approximately $20 million.

Prom and Hoodwinked Two finished fifth and sixth, with $1.8m and $1.1m respectively. Those totals are pathetic, given that each film is in at least 2500 theaters. The all-time record for the worst weekend among films in 2500 or more theaters is $2.6 million, so Hoodwinked Two has a shot at it. It is possible that both Prom and Hoodwinked Two will enter the all time bottom ten list in that category!
