Barbara's statement is an American presidential tradition, similar to the tradition that determines which journalist gets to ask the first question at a presidential press conference.
Barbara has now said this to every president since Grover Cleveland, to whom she said it on two non-consecutive occasions.
Interestingly, the big fellow gave two different answers when she asked him which tree he would prefer to be. First time: "white birch." Second time: "any hard wood, if you catch my driftwood." Many historians attribute that to the fact that they had sex after the first interview.
