"THE reputation of the most expensive and revered violins in the world has taken a battering. In an experimental result published this week, concert violinists were unable to pick two Stradivarius violins from modern instruments, based on their sound alone. And despite differing in price by more than a million dollars, the virtuoso musos opted for the modern one when asked which fiddle they would like to take home."
(21 violinists donned dark goggles and played six different violins in dim light, then graded/ranked them.)
