Talk about a guy on fire. He really has that knuckler dancing. The one-hitters are merely the tip of the iceberg. He's now leading the majors in wins and ERA, and has not allowed an earned run since May 22nd! In his last six starts, he's pitched 48 innings while allowing only one earned run on 16 hits, with 62 strikeouts. And he's only allowed 5 walks in that period - not even one per game, so that knuckleball is always finding its way across the plate. During that period his WHIP is less than .5 and his ERA is below 0.20!
Where did this come from? What kind of voodoo does he practice? He will turn 38 this year and has been in the bigs since 2001, but before this year his lifetime record was 41-50. In each of the last three years he has struck out fewer than 6 batters per 9 innings, but this year he's above 9 and climbing (13 and 12 in his last two starts). Amazin'
