I had no idea there was such a thing as a 90-episode pickup. That's a shitload of episodes. I'm surprised they expect Charlie to live that long.
Seriously, that is tremendous news for the USO, because Charlie gave them a portion of his points in the show!

This model for a series is relatively new, and was kicked off by the Tyler Perry sitcoms. The 90 episodes won't be produced on a 22(or so) episode per season basis - they shoot them back to back to back, for like 2 years straight, with only breif breaks, not a full hiatus like most shows. So, there will still be "new" episodes airing 2-3 years after they wrap production.
