He was Burt Bacharach's lyricist on plenty of memorable hits, like "Raindrops Keep Fallin' On My Head," "Close to You," "What the World Needs Now is Love", "This Guy's In Love With You" and "That's What Friends Are For." The two men co-wrote their first hit for Perry Como, then created winners for Tom Jones and Dusty Springfield, but really entered the pop culture pantheon a few years later when they teamed with Dionne Warwick and churned out hit after hit, including "Walk On By," "I Say a Little Prayer" and "Do You Know the Way to San Jose."
