Box office report: 'Man of Steel' scores super $125.1 million

"The superhero film began its run with a massive $125.1 million ($113.1 million over the traditional weekend, $12 million from corporate screening programs on Thursday), breaking the record for the biggest June opening weekend ever."

This is the End also did well. It pulled in $20M over the three-day weekend ($32M counting its head start).

The Purge did not set the all-time record for the largest second-week drop. It fell 75.9%. Among films with opening weekend over $30M, that was the third worst of all time, behind the remake of Friday XIII (80.4%) and last year's low-budget surprise film, The Devil Inside (76.2%). The Internship also dropped rapidly, with a 60% decline from last week. The rapid decline of those two films sank them to 5th and 6th place, this allowing Now You See Me and Fast Six to take the #3 and #4 slots.
