There are four new films which will appear in more than 20 theaters. It appears that none of them are worth watching, at least if you believe the critics.
Carrie (3157 theaters; 49% positive reviews; rated R, but not for nudity). Another unnecessary remake.
Escape Plan (2883 theaters; 45% positive reviews; rated R, but not for nudity). 1980's-style popcorn flick with Rocky Balboa and Ah-nuld.
The Fifth Estate (1769 theaters; 40% positive reviews; rated R, but not for nudity). The film about WikiLeaks.
I'm In Love With a Church Girl (457 theaters; 0% positive reviews; rated PG). Criminal is inspired by meeting a "good" girl.
Box office preview:
None of them have enough muscle to unseat Gravity from the box office throne. Carrie should finish second with a respectable total in the mid-twenties. Escape Plan is not expected to finish higher than fourth or fifth, with a gross in the high single figures. That WikiLeaks film is not expected to gross more than $5 million or so.
