This year has been a triumph for the old, established NL franchises. The Cardinals and the Dodgers have each gone to the World Series 18 times, and both teams have been around since the 1880s. The Cardinals' eleven championships are, by far, the most in NL history. The Dodgers are third with six, behind the Cards and the Giants (seven).
