The Gay Ghost
Right from the first page, the introductory text warns us that the adventure we're about to read is "one of the queerest in all history."
This was written in 1942 when the common meanings of "gay" and "queer" were different. He was a lively man whose adventures were unconventional, and he is heterosexual. When DC mentions him today, he is known as The Grim Ghost. They must have changed the character's personality as well as his moniker, since "grim" is more or less opposite in meaning to "gay."
