As numerous commenters on the posted article point out, the headline is grossly misleading. "ALL the taxes" actually means only income tax. The poor actually pay a larger portion of their income in taxes than the wealthy, but the taxes are payroll taxes, sales taxes, property taxes (included in their rent if they are renters), taxes on gasoline and air travel and telephone and cable TV service, etc.

ReplyDeleteWe seriously need to have a discussion of the definition of "poor" in this country if it includes people who travel by plane and have cable TV.
