In addition to Dayton's victory over Syracuse, there was one other upset: #7 Connecticut defeated #2 Villanova. That wasn't as much of a surprise as it seems. Connecticut was probably underseeded at a seven. It's not all that surprising that they made the top sixteen teams, considering their final national ranking was eighteen. While their season had some rough patches, they defeated Cincinnati twice, and beat Memphis THREE times.
