Survey: Most Millennials pay for cheap items with credit, debit cards

Survey: Most Millennials pay for cheap items with credit, debit cards
I've been out of the convenience store business for decades now, but I can imagine how this trend must frustrate that industry. I know it frustrates me as a customer when I just want to pay for my coffee quickly and I'm in line behind three doofuses who use a credit card to buy a pack of gum ("Declined? that can't be right!"), or worse, somebody who's arguing with the clerk because she won't let him pay for lottery tickets with a credit card.

I know that c-stores can't do much to make the problem go away because they need the business and they frequently have only a single person on duty. I do wish that supermarkets would make the express lanes for cash only, because what slows them down in the scanner world is not the number of items, but the method of payment, especially when it includes a combination of cards and coupons.
