Food for thought: Hillary in 2016 got almost exactly the same number of votes as Obama in 2012!
Both got 65.8 million and change. Obama got a little more "change."
Trump got about two million more than Romney.
Although the gross numbers were sort of similar in the two elections, obviously Clinton lost six states that Obama won: Iowa, Wisconsin, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Florida and Ohio.
Trivia: excepting Alaska, you can drive to the other 29 Trump states without ever leaving Trump territory. Clinton's states, on the other hand, form five islands: the West Coast, the Northeast, Colorado/Mew Mexico, Minnesota and Illinois.
The perfect Trump vacation is spoiled, however, by that district in Maine which gave Trump an electoral vote. Mr Imaginary Vacationer with his Trump bumper sticker would have to drive through several hostile blue states to get there. It would not be so hostile, however if he crossed from Pennsylvania into upstate New York, which is Trump country. New Hampshire was barely blue, so the only place where his bumper sticker might get ripped off is Vermont, where Trump's count was barely noticeable.
