"Jill Stein is now officially the Ralph Nader of 2016."

"Jill Stein is now officially the Ralph Nader of 2016."

There is no guarantee that Stein's votes would have gone to Hillary had Stein not been in the race. The Stein voters might have hated Hillary enough to stay home. They might have voted for Gary Johnson. Who knows? But I think it's a safe assumption that she cost Hillary Michigan, where Stein got 51,000 votes and Hillary apparently lost by only 10,000.

Michigan alone would not have been enough to overcome Trump's electoral edge. In Pennsylvania and Wisconsin, Stein's vote count is very close to Hillary's margin, meaning a very high percentage of the Stein voters would have had to convert. In Pennsylvania, for example, Hillary would have to have pulled 94% of the Stein voters to Trump's 0%.

  1. Don't knock Nader, Gore was just that bad.
