I can't comment on their marketing, but the series itself just keeps improving. The last two episodes of Black Sails were some of the best shows ever aired on television. The second-last episode of season three is rated 9.2 at IMDb, and the season three finale is rated an astronomical 9.7, which makes it one of the top 35 TV episodes of all time.
