South Carolina crushes Baylor in bracket-destroying upset
With West Virginia gone, South Carolina is my favorite scrappy underdog. Frank Martin has done a great job improving that team every year since he came on board. This is their first NCAA in 13 years, and they had not won a tournament game since 1973. Some of their more recent efforts had been utterly embarrassing. In 1997 they had a #2 seed and lost to a #15, Coppin State. Coppin has never made it higher than a #15 seed and that remains to this day the only NCAA tournament game Coppin has ever won. The following year was almost a repeat of that disaster for South Carolina. They had a #3 seed and lost to a #14.
(Oh, by the way, this is South Carolina's first trip to the "elite eight" EVER!)
If your bracket was not already smashed, this could not have helped. Only about half a percent of the ESPN fan brackets had South Carolina in the Ocho.
As for Baylor, it's a sad way to end a good season, but they deserved to lose on the basis of those uniforms alone.
