Fox News drops Bill O'Reilly in wake of harassment allegations
The O'Reilly Factor was the highest-rated show on Cable News by a very wide margin. In the first quarter of 2017, per Variety, "The O’Reilly Factor not only had its highest-rated quarter ever, but it broke all previous records in cable news history for the highest-viewership ever for any given program in a quarter."
But ratings are only important for profit when they translate to ad revenues, and O'Reilly had recently lost the majority of his advertisers.
