2017 NCAA College Football Polls and Rankings for Week 10
The only surprise I saw there: Iowa State is rated 14th in the nation, having jumped 11 spots by defeating previously undefeated #4 TCU. That was no fluke. Earlier in the season they beat Oklahoma, which was then undefeated and #3. The Cyclones were quite unimpressive in their first four games, but have been goin' gangbusters since then. That hasn't earned them much street cred with the bookies. They are three-point 'dogs next week against West Virginia in Morgantown.
The other weird betting line for next week: Miami is undefeated, ranked in the top ten, and playing at home, yet they are still three-point underdogs. (They play #13 Virginia Tech.)
Our Wisconsin Badgers are rated #4. They don't necessarily deserve it because their schedule has been soft (69th-hardest, per Sagarin, who does not have the Badgers in his top ten.) The Badgers are in the weaker half of the Big Ten to begin with, and they didn't draw Michigan State, Ohio State or Penn State in the crossover games this year. Instead they pulled crossovers against Maryland, Indiana and Michigan. Wisconsin has four games left and three of those are against teams with losing conference records. The only really tough one is against Michigan, but even that is made a bit easier because it's a home game. All things considered, Wisconsin seems like a decent bet to stay undefeated.
