The #1 seeds this year are 'Nova, UVA, Kansas and Xavier.
Kansas got a #1 seed even though they are only ranked ninth in the country, but it is really Xavier which is the outlier. Even though Xavier is currently rated $3 in the country, only 3% of the contestants in the bracket challenge think that Xavier could make it all the way. The contestants are more confident in some two seeds, some threes, and even a four (Arizona)
Semi-surprising:
(1) Michigan State is rated #4 in the nation, but was dropped down to a three seed, even though UNC got a #2 seed despite being ranked twelfth nationally.
(2) Gonzaga is rated sixth in the nation, but could pull no better than a fourth seed.
