"Why Andie MacDowell did her first nude scene at age 59"

Short answer: because she didn't.

She did a nude scene for a cruddy movie called Ruby Cairo (aka Deception) back in 1993. It was quite chopped up. A 106-minute film had been truncated to 90 minutes and the nude scene had been nuked. To make a long story short, the cut version had made no sense, and the deletion of the nude scene was part of the reason why! That scene and some others had been necessary to understand the plot and the characters' motivations.

Fortunately ... the movie was later re-released on DVD in Germany, and those zany Germans had restored the full version, including the nude scene. As it turns out, I own a copy of that German DVD!

Unfortunately ... the movie is not as easy to follow as you might hope, since it is dubbed in German. But that doesn't affect the nude scene, which has no dialogue.
