Could The Day After Tomorrow Really Happen? Yes, of course, some elements of it will happen. Earth has gone through several Ice Ages of varying severity. There will be several more before our Sun is dead. Chances are that men will still be on the planet when the next one occurs, if we don't find a faster way to kill ourselves off. The key questions are (1) "how soon is such a thing likely to occur?", and (2) "how quickly will the changes actually happen?", and (3) "to what extent can mankind accelerate, decelerate, or prevent the onset of the next Ice Age?". The movie does not pretend to give rational answers to those questions. It is fiction.
