DiCaprio was nominated for both Best Actor (Blood Diamond) and Best Supporting Actor (The Departed)Besides DiCaprio, the best actor nominees are Ryan Gosling ("Half Nelson"), Peter O'Toole ("Venus"), Will Smith ("The Pursuit of Happyness") and Forest Whitaker ("The Last King of Scotland").
Best actress nominees are the same women (Brits and Streep) who are nominated every year, except for Penelope Cruz ("Volver"). The others are Judi Dench ("Notes on a Scandal"), Helen Mirren ("The Queen"), Meryl Streep ("The Devil Wears Prada") and Kate Winslet ("Little Children"). It was Dench's record 11 millionth nomination, with the younger Streep only a few hundred behind.
Dench has actually been nominated for five Oscars and 20 BAFTAs. Dench's Oscar count is so low because she wasn't nominated until 1998, when she was already in her sixties, although she has been getting BAFTA nominations since the reign of Henry VII, and is the only Shakespearian actress to have been handed an award by "Billy" Shakespeare himself. (Kidding aside, she won her first BAFTA in 1966!)
Streep has 13 Oscar nominations, but a mere 10 BAFTAs. Streep has been an also-ran the last nine times she was nominated for an Oscar, having last won in 1983!
