FORTUNE Global 500 2006: Full list ranked by sales volume
You do not want to be in the auto business. Ford, GM and Daimler/Chrysler are all in the top nine, and between them took in more than a half trillion dollars last year - with no profit at all!! (Toyota did turn a profit.)

The Oil Companies kinda made up for it. The five largest oil companies combined for more than $100 billion in profits.

The top ten consists entirely of oil and auto companies except for Wal-Mart,

The weirdest numbers on the list? Vodafone took in 65 billion in revenues, and managed to post a 39 billion dollar LOSS on the bottom line.
