My all-time best put-down: a woman in the UK told me that she couldn't attend a show with me one night because she had to cut her grass before going on vacation. And she did this in front of one of my colleagues from the USA, who promptly called everyone he knew, and probably the Washington Post and Regis Philbin. For about two years I listened to every possible joke and double entendre about mowing women's lawns.
