Here's what I wrote two months ago: "It makes some sense. All three guys fit the roles quite well, but all three of them are too old. Damon and Brody are the same age as Shatner and Nimoy were when the series aired, and Sinese is about five years older than DeForrest Kelley was. That would make perfect sense if the story took place during the same time period as the original series, but the plot is supposed to be about when they all met for the first time at the academy. I think we can say Brody is actually OK, since Spock could have looked the same fifteen years earlier. His aging process is uncertainly defined. But Kirk is human, so he should be about 20 years old in the academy. Bones is about ten years older, so should look about 30 when Kirk is 20. In other words, Damon is 15 years too old for the job, and Sinese is actually old enough to play McCoy's father!
