Gallup Poll Review: John McCain

Gallup Poll Review: John McCain
There are two salient points: (1) McCain's favorable rating is in free-fall and has dropped 12 points since March; (2) If McCain leaves the race, nearly half of his supporters would go to Giuliani. McCain currently has the support of 17% of Republicans. If he drops, here's how the 17 points re-distribute: eight to Giuliani, two to Thompson, two to Romney, one each to several minor candidates including Ron Paul. In essence, that widens Giuliani's lead significantly, from 13 points to 19 over Romney.
