This newspaper article seems to be surprised that a deer broke into a home. I grew up in a house next to a large park, and this was a fairly common occurence. Here's why. Every once in a while somebody new would move into the neighborhood and decide that they needed to modernize the old house by adding some of those big sliding doors that are all glass with only a small solid frame. That's a great idea for bringing more natural light into a stuffy old-fashioned room, but deer don't know the difference between glass and empty space, so they tend to go prancing merrily into what they think are open spaces. Sometimes they crash through, sometimes they just get repelled. Either way it can be nasty.
