Rasmussen Reports™: The most comprehensive public opinion coverage ever provided for a mid-term election.

National match-ups: McCain vs Obama or Clinton.

The election is a long way off and even the nomination process has far to go, but at the moment McCain has a landslide lead over Clinton and edges Obama 46-43.

McCain's lead over Clinton is 11 points, which is greater than the margin Reagan held over Carter (9.7 points) when he took 489 electoral votes in 1980. Bill Clinton held an 8.5 point margin over Bob Dole when he won 379 electoral votes in 1996.
