Weekend Box Office Results for January 18–20, 2008
The weekly chart will appear tomorrow because the experts made 4-day predictions. The quick take is that Cloverfield shattered all the January records. The record for the best January weekend was held by the re-release of Star Wars at 35 million dollars. No first release film had ever reached 30 million. Cloverfield took in $41m. The other major release, 27 Dresses, also kicked ass, with the result being that the box office was an astounding 78% above the third weekend of last year.
